About

Late to the game but here for the long haul.

I was drawn to theatre by the human connection and crossed boundaries that occurred on stage which we so often lack in ordinary life. I wanted to be the provider of that “Oh Shit” feeling I felt as an audience member. I took my first class in college and I was hooked; not only by the void that finally felt filled, but by the most open-minded, welcoming, game-changing people I met as I took classes and worked on shows. I graduated from college with a minor in Theatre, too afraid at the time to trade in my more conventional major. Fast-forward 19 months through a marketing internship and my first two professional acting jobs (MUCH to my surprise), to my audition for graduate school through URTA where Southern Methodist University and I chose each other. I knew I needed more training if I really wanted to do this and the opportunity to live, breathe, and sleep acting for 3 dedicated years was exactly what I wanted and needed. Three years later I received my MFA in Acting and left straight away to my first post-grad contract at Colorado Shakespeare Festival

I know a lot of people give their resume in their “About” page, but that’s what my Resume page is for. This is just me, taking a moment to self-indulge and tell you about myself. Up there, that’s a quick glimpse of my start and journey with acting. But I’m obviously more than that. I’d be SUPER boring if I wasn’t:
I love cooking and eating food; right now I’m really into making orzo-based dishes. I love a good drink; summer ales are my current go-to but I also love a good gin and cucumber cocktail in the warm season. I am really into nourishing and challenging my body with fitness; I started running during quarantine (because what else was there to do?!) and I recently applied to run the 2021 NYC Marathon for a charity. I write poetry pretty often and will occasionally write a song, even if it’s just a parody spoof of another song. I believe that all skin colors, all genders, all sexual identities and preferences need to not only be represented on stage, but need to be at the table in the big important rooms where big important decisions are made, because that’s the only way real change will occur. There are many days this industry breaks my heart and knocks me down, but if any field can lead the way in change, it’s this one. I am committed to being part of that change and helping the rest of the world feel that “Oh Shit” feeling, so we can all work toward betterment together.

I once heard someone say, “As an actor, you have the chance to change the world two hours at a time.”

And oh boy, THAT is why I act. That is why I believe the world needs theatre, television, film, comedy, drama, ART...now, more than ever.

Here's to hard work and loving what you do!
Cheers!
